You can defend your school from cyber attacks with free cyber defence tools from the NCSC.
We would encourage all UK schools to sign up for Mail Check and Web Check. These two new services help identify potential cyber security issues and fix them promptly. The tools will help schools defend against the ongoing threat from cybercriminals. These criminals put sensitive data at risk and affect schools’ reputation and ability to operate. The Active Cyber Defence programme helps prevent millions of cyberattacks from causing harm in the UK.
The Web Check service scans websites to check for common, significant weaknesses. It sends a report to schools flagging any issues according to severity as well as advice on fixing the problems.
Mail Check helps technical teams assess and improve email security. It stops attackers from sending emails pretending to be from your school. It also ensures that data can not be altered or read in transit.
These cyber defence tools are free to all UK schools.
If you’re a parent or member of staff, please mention these services to your school’s IT support team (or supplier). Used alongside the NCSC’s range of cyber resources for schools, Mail Check and Web Check will help your school defend itself from cyber attacks making it harder for cyber attackers to gain access to sensitive school data or core services.
