Defend your school from cyber attacks
You can defend your school from cyber attacks with free cyber defence tools from the NCSC.
We would encourage all UK schools to sign up for Mail Check and Web Check. These two new services help identify potential cyber security issues and fix them promptly. The tools will help schools defend against the ongoing threat from cybercriminals. These criminals put sensitive data at risk and affect schools’ reputation and ability to operate. The Active Cyber Defence programme helps prevent millions of cyberattacks from causing harm in the UK.
Let’s stop abuse together
The Government launched a new campaign to tackle the growing threat of online child sexual abuse. With the IWF (Internet Watch Foundation) having reported a three-fold increase in incidents of online sexual abuse targeting 7 – 10 years in 2021 the Let’s Stop Abuse Together is campaign is timely. Aimed at parents and carers as well as professionals and survivors, the website provides advice and support on keeping safe online. The parent/carer section is packed with advice and guidance on spotting signs of abuse, a very useful guide to talking to children about online sexual abuse and signposting to sources of help and support.
Please help StopAbuseTogether by flagging up the campaign and website to parents and carers via your usual school communications.
New online safety resource for KS1 pupils
NCA-CEOP has launched a new online safety website for 4 to 7-year-olds. The website is based on the three-episode Jessie & Friends animated series. The series aims to equip young children with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to stay safer online. There is also an accompanying guide for parents and carers which will enable them to use the site alongside their children. Education settings can also use the site with pupils to teach online safety.
