NCA-CEOP has launched a new online safety website for 4 to 7-year-olds. The website is based on the three-episode Jessie & Friends animated series. The series aims to equip young children with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to stay safer online. There is also an accompanying guide for parents and carers which will enable them to use the site alongside their children. Education settings can also use the site with pupils to teach online safety.
Via the animations, 4 to 7-year-olds learn to engage safely online. They will learn to recognise worrying, upsetting or scary situations. The site reinforces the key message that they should ‘Tell A Grown Up’. Divided by age into sections, each section features relevant and age-appropriate games for the chosen age bracket. Each game focuses on one of four online safety topics: watching videos, chatting online, sharing pictures and gaming online. Jessie & Friends episodes are also available to watch on the new website to enhance understanding.
Parents and carers guide
The guide aims to support parents and carers in navigating the website alongside their children. It provides information on the background and purpose of the website, in addition to information about each of the games and conversation starters to use with children. The guide is available for you to download and share with parent and carer networks within your setting.
